Filmmaker Sohail Khan has said his brother Salman wanted to play a role – any role – in the recently released ‘Freaky Ali’, but the director had to deny him an opportunity because an actor of Salman’s stature can’t be playing a minor role.
“Bhai (Salman) wanted a role, any role, in the film… I had to say a firm NO” Sohail said.
“How can an actor of Salman’s stature play a small part? He will be a distraction in every frame that he appears. Instead, I requested him to lend us the name of his production house and its infrastructure, so that we would have a good backing for our endeavour”
Freaky Ali released in theatres on September 9 with Baar Baar Dekho. While both films failed to make a mark at the ticket window, Freaky Ali will recover costs when all revenue sources are factored in.
