ABCD Weekend Collections

ABCDABCD has collected Rs 16 crores at the domestic box office in it’s first weekend. The film is faring exceptionally well on 3D screens, where it was running to packed houses in Mumbai, Mysore (includes cities like Bangalore and Mangalore) and Andhra/Nizam.

For a film made on a modest budget (11-12 crore), ABCD is already a huge success at the box office. No one quite expected the film to collect anything more than 10 crores in it’s first weekend, but the Prabhu Deva starrer has surpassed all expectations. In fact, the weekend collections were just 25-30% lower than a big film like Special Chabbis.

ABCD has held up pretty well for the morning shows on Monday and should collect around 22-23 crores in it’s first weekend. The success party (see photos) to celebrate the huge opening, was organised on Sunday. Director Remo D’Souza has signed a two film contract with UTV and one of the two films will be a sequel to ABCD (read article).

Verdict – HIT (first sleeper hit of 2013)
