Mohit Suri’s Aashiqui 2 has 10 love songs and all the compositions have a contemporary feel while retaining the flavour of the original movie’s music.
The original Aashiqui was directed by Mahesh Bhatt way back in 1990 and featured newcomers Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal in lead roles. Much like the new film, the 1990 blockbuster had 11 songs, including ‘Tu meri zindagi hai’, ‘Ab tere bin’ and ‘Nazar ke samne’.
“The film (Aashiqui 2) has 10 love songs and we have tried to retain the feel of the previous film as well. But of course that film came out 21 years ago, so it can’t be exactly the same,” said Suri, who is directing the film starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.
“The songs have a flavour of the previous film, but then we have tried to contemporarise it so that people can relate to it. Songs have been composed by different artists… we are on the last schedule of the shooting,” he added.
Although the film is in it’s final shooting schedule, the release date of Aashiqui 2 hasn’t been finalised. When questioned, Suri simply said “Mukesh Bhatt will be able to give you a better answer on the release date. I only make the film.”
