First a few questions that ups the curiosity level of Aap Ka Surroor – The Moviee

  • What is the secret behind the cap of Himesh Reshammiya? Why does he wear it all the time?
  • Why Himesh never smiles?
  • How will Himesh look without his infamous cap?
  • How good an actor is Himesh, is he capable of delivering histrionics on screen? Most people in the trade are aware of the fact that, If Himesh clicks and Aap Ka Surroor goes on to be a Box-office success, he will create ripples in the Bollywood Film Industry. The star system will literally be shaken.

So with all these thoughts and questions in mind, you curiously enter the cinema hall to watch Aap Ka Surroor – The Moviee, which marks the silver screen acting debut of singer and extremely talented music composer Himesh Reshammiya.

Aap Ka Surroor begins with the corpse of a Television journalist Nadia Merchant found in a remote area . HR (Himesh Reshammiya) is on a concert tour to Germany. The movie now goes into a flashback mode.

HR, a extremely popular singer, performer and composer, is in Germany for a concert. He meets the event manager Khurana (Darshan Jariwala) and his partner cum lawyer Ruby (Mallika Sherawat). He also meets Rhea (Hansika Motwani) his event planner. Both fall in love with eachother instantly. Rhea’s father (Sachin Khedekar) who initially disapproves the relationship, agrees for their marriage after HR promises to keep Rhea happy forever.

But unfortunately, as with most love stories, things take a tragic turn and HR is arrested. On the other hand, Rhea’s marriage is fixed and she is supposed to get married within a day to someone else. HR has one single day prove his innocence and win his love to live happily everafter. Does he succeeds? Watch the movie to find out.

The one thing that goes against the movie is the story. Its simply is unbelievable and very filmy to say the least. Director Prashant Chadha is techincally well equipped but as a story teller he fails. Right from the auto rickshaw sequence to the climax the movie falters. Its believed that HR’s biggest fans are the rickshaw drivers. They are sure to get disappointed with that particular sequence. The music is good, although two songs can be easily be chopped off from the movie. The cinematography is brilliant.

Himesh Reshammiya is impassive in a few sequences and he must work on his dialogue delivery. He does show a few sparks of brilliance though. Overall a decent debut. Hansika Motwani, the kiddo in Hrithik Roshan’s Koi Mil Gaya, delivers a good performance. She is good in the emotional scenes. Mallika Sherawat is plain average. She falters in the all important scene, when her role turns from negative to positive.

Shravan as HR’s friend, in a comical role deserves a special mention. He is brilliant. Sachin Khedekar and Darshan Jariwala are good.

To sum things up, Aap Ka Surroor is a disappointing movie. Himesh is hardly seen without the cap. Some questions (mentioned above) are left unanswered. At the box-office though, it could click, thanks to the curiosity surrounding the movie and Himesh’s huge fan following around the globe.

I didnt like it, you just might. Give it a try.
