  • Well researched, but one wrong fact. Aamir wasn’t offered SRK’s role in Josh, but that of Rahul.

    Excerpt from Mansoon Khan’s interview

The casting of Josh was like a film itself, wasn’t it? All three Khans—Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh — were attached with the project at one time.

Yeah, I wanted SRK as Max and Aamir for Rahul’s role. I had narrated the story to Aamir. Without my telling him what role I wanted him to play, he started wearing bandanas and wristbands. He thought he was playing Max. I went to SRK, who said no because he was sure that Aamir would be playing Max. Everyone wanted to play Max. Even Kajol, who I wanted for Shirley’s role, got up after the narration and said, “I want to play Max”. But I felt SRK would be the best Max. When I told Aamir this, he said, “If that’s the case, I’m not in the film.” Then I went to Salman who had date issues. Then my producer Ratan Jain took charge and said he’d speak to SRK. That was it. He agreed, even to play a brother to Aishwarya Rai.

  • From Wikipedia

Salman Khan was the original choice for the role of Max. However, he was forced to withdraw and Shahrukh Khan replaced him.

Aamir Khan was offered the role of Prakash but declined, saying he felt the role was too small compared to the role of Max.

  • Unlike several other actors, Aamir never agrees to do a film without a bound script – irrespective of the director or production house.
This makes Aamir khan unique and different from other stars bcoz other stars always looks for big production houses and big and established directors.
Everyone goes with the flow while Aamir goes against the flow.

  • Wish our Saaman Bhai could learn something from Aamir and stop acting in crap films one after the other… Forget bound script, Saaman bhai doesnt know what is a script.. Sad..

and one more fact is our Saaman bhai can also solve the the Rubik’s cube in only 13..days.. hahaha

  • Aamir Khan rocks.btw i was aware of most of the unknown fact listed here about Aamir.waiting for his all movies to break every possible record.

  • Soon after the historic success of Lagaan, Ashutosh Gowariker wrote the Swades script with Aamir in mind. The actor didn’t like the script. Ashutosh then approached Hrithik Roshan, who rejected it too. A disappointed Gowariker then went to Shahrukh Khan, who loved the script and signed the film!

  • @star : Salman Khan doesn’t need a script to make
a film hit. His persona is enough for your self
proclaimed king to shiver & start stammering.
    Lol… :D

  • The fact that Aamir Khan rejected Darr, Saajan, HAHK, 1942 A Love Story and did films like Daulat Ki Jung, Ishq, Mela, Baazi shows what a poor script sense he had before Lagaan happened to him! He also rejected Swades and did Mangal Pandey instead. Though both are commercially unsuccessful films, the former is a cult classic while the latter is a joke.

  • @thebhatta Maybe I dont care what you getting at but I for one know that had Aamir or Hrithik done Swades then it would have been a Blockbuster. Even Ashutosh has regrets til this day as to why he went to Srk when Sunny or Saif would have been better suited to the role.
    :-P

  • @DEEPU.. you need to read this http://www.indicine.com/movies/bollywood/films-that-shahrukh-khan-rejected/

Shahrukh Khan rejected films like Munnabhai MBBS, 3 Idiots, Lagaan, Rang De Basanti, Robot, Jodha Akbar.

Salman Khan rejected films like Chak De India, it was written with him in mind. He was the first choice.

You see, actors reject films due to various reasons. Could also be because of date issues. You never know. So you cant blame Aamir.

All is well that ends well. Imagine if SRK had done Munnabhai or Jodha Akbar. He’d have been the worst choice.

  • @deepu you digging yourself an even bigger hole which noone can save you from.
Think before you speak another word coz to you Swades may be a cult classic but to Aamir fans Ishq and Baazi are far more memorable. Aamirs undercover act in rags in Baazi was unbelievable. Ashutosh worked with Aamir in his first 2 bolly films and I can assure you Ashutosh now regrets not making it 3 with Swades.
PS srk destroyed Ashutosh’s legacy and not Harman Baweja…!
    :-P

  • “A disappointed Gowariker then went to Shahrukh Khan, who loved the script and signed the film! While Swades didn’t work at the box office, it’s widely considered to be one of the best films of SRK’s career. He also won the Filmfare Best Actor award for his performance.”

    and then this—

“Sooraj Barjatya’s Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, one of the biggest blockbusters in history, was offered to Aamir who failed to identify with the character of Prem. He didn’t find the script too appealing either.”

this says it all that writer is a big time SRK fan..!!
