Aamir Khan on Vishnuvardhan and New Year

Aamir Khan’s latest blog on the promotion of 3 Idiots, his short tribute to Kannada Superstar Vishnuvardhan, New Year wishes and a lot more..

************************************

Just landed in Kolkata after a super time in Bangalore.

The 3i team is travelling to a number of cities to interact with audiences across the country. Bangalore was the first stop and we had such a lovely time there. The entire team joins me in thanking Bangalore, and all of you who were there at the mall, to give us so much love and affection. It was really overwhelming. Thank you.

The sad note in our happiness was the untimely demise the next day of super star Vishnuvardhan. Mr Vishnuvardhan who is a huge star in Karnataka and has had a prolific career was only 59. Our condolences to his family, to all those who love him, and to all of Karnataka for whom he is such an icon. May his soul rest in peace.

We have now reached Kolkatta and we are all looking forward to meeting our audience here. Kolkata has always been a place I have loved and I am very happy to be back.

One word of caution to all those who come to meet and see us at the venue, please be careful not to hurt yourselves. I always worry that some kid will get trampled in the chaos. There are ladies, girls, kids and elderly people in the crowd, and I would not ever like it to become a mob situation or a stampede where someone gets hurt. I know that everyone gets excited and we love that, but in all the excitement I don’t want anyone to get hurt. Please be rest assured that we have come to see you, and are there for you, and please be relaxed about it.

Today of course is the last day of the year, it’s been a very good year for me and I am very grateful for that. I want to thank each and every one of you for the wonderful things that you have said about the film. Raju, Vinod and the entire team have been reading my blog and are very moved, and join me in thanking you. My sincere good wishes to all of us for a great new year ahead. Have a blast.

Lots of love.

  • It was not Mr. Vishnuvardhan, he was called Dr. Vishnuvardhan.. really a gem of a person.. He was a great fan of akshay kumar from d days wen akshay did a movie with him in kannada. Vishnu sir always used to admire akshay bcoz he used to do his own stunts. It seems Vishnu sir also tried doin his own stunts after being with akshay.

Kannada film industry has really lost a gem. May his soul rest in peace..

  • Amish, having had the pleasure of meeting him in person a couple of times, must say he was a great man and always greeted you with a smile.

He loved cricket and would talk often talk about the game in detail. We watched one of his movies Gurushishyaru (if i have spelt it right) it was one of the most hilarious movies ever.

We have received info that he has completed shooting and dubbing for two of his last movies, which will release soon. Ironically they will be his 199th and 200th films!

A legend has passed away, he will be missed!

  • Indicine Team– ya his next movie s gonna release in 2 weeks ‘school master’ n d other which s d 2nd part of ‘aaptha mithra’ (which s same as Bhool bhulayya in hindi) which s called ‘aaptha rakshaka’.

He did a movie with akki called ‘vishnu-vijay’ which was a superhit. akshay`s first kannada movie.

  • Amish, hope u dont mind me…,

i have a doubt if Akshay did any Kannada movie with Vishnuvardhan…but i know they were together in a Hindi movie name Zaalim in 1994, n i watched it too.

correct me if i m wrong.

  • cybersupam your right he did do a film called zaalim he also did a film with akshay called ashaant too which released before zaalim they did 2 films together

  • Dr.Vishnuvardhan sir has acted in 220 movies five languages. It’s not 200 films in his career, 200 in Kannada…. He is the legend of all times.

  • Yes, Vishnuvardhan did 2 films with Akshay Kumar in the 1990s. One of them was Ashaant(Vishnu Vijaya in Kannada) and the other was Zaalim. Both of the films were flops but they were both seriously great films. Both of them had great stunts and both Akshay and Vishnu did a good job in both films as the lead actors.
