Aamir Khan on Time Magazine: The 100 most influential people

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has been featured on the cover of Time Magazine. The actor appears on one of the seven special covers of the magazine listing the 100 most influential people in the world.

A. R. Rahman, who has worked with Aamir on several movies, including the Oscar nominated Lagaan, was all praise for the actor “Aamir has been chosen for using his influence to raise social awareness in India. In a world of false diplomacy and evasiveness, Aamir is a straightforward man. He uses his gifts as a charmer to give his audience the most bitter medicine. Hypnotized, we take it without complaint.”

“Aamir has started a movement that will help change the world in which Indians live. Jai ho!”

  • Good for him. SRK has been featuring in world’s most influential lists since 2004 in media like Newsweek, TIME, BBC, New Statesman, Sueddeustche Zeitung, Entertainment Weekly etc. It is great that Aamir has finally managed to feature in at least one such list after so long. Congratulations to his fans!

  • @deepu lol i have never ever heard srk in world’s most influential people lists. i dont know why srk fans always like push srk in every other article, i Guess may be because of his movie are now doing just above avg bussiness. nevertheless aamir is only actor who showcases high class cinema, not even dilip sahab and amitabh were able to make movie like lagaan, taare zameen par, dil chata hai, rang de basanti and 3 idiots!

  • @ahmed
This one is for people like you–

Actor Shah Rukh Khan has been labeled the world’s biggest movie star by the US based magazine Newsweek. SRK has been rated among the 50 most powerful people in the world along with Sonia Gandhi, Dalai Lama and many more.
SRK has been ranked 41st in the 50 most powerful people in the world by Newsweek.
King Khan is ahead of international biggies including Oprah Winfrey, the Dalai Lama and Jim Rogers among others.

  • After conquering Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan has now been ranked at the 41st spot among the 50 most powerful people in the world by the prestigious Newsweek magazine, with Barack Obama topping the list. The other Indian besides the King Khan in the list happens to be the Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who’s at the 17th spot.

The magazine describes SRK as ‘King of Bollywood’, a title that every cinegoer is aware of, like they know their A-B-C. The magazine also stated that ‘It’s not just that his (Shah Rukh Khan’s) romantic flicks make gazillions, it’s where those gazillions come from. Khan is huge in the Muslim world, even in Pakistan and Afghanistan, where the mullahs ban his films. (The movies thrive on the black market). Their main appeal is certainly the song-and-dance numbers, but Khan (a Muslim married to a Hindu) makes devoutly secular films where love trounces bigotry.’

Now with even the Newsweek in his kitty, one is simply left wondering as to what will be the King’s next conquest.

  • Srk fans r so insecure . Aamir khan is d first bollywood actor to feature on Time Magazine cover The 100 most influential people . Aamir Khan the best actor ever .

  • Srk fans r so insecure . Aamir khan is d first bollywood actor to feature on Time Magazine cover The 100 most influential people . Aamir Khan the best actor ever \m/

  • SRK has been on that list before…incl. Los Angeles Times list….and also Newsweek named him one of the 50 most powerful people in the world. ……even Aishwarya Rai was on that list somewhere in 2004……..no big deal !!

  • @ Deepu, SRK is meia made superstar. SK is people made superstar. AK is superstar by virtue of quality of his work.

  • @ahmed I fully agree with u aamir is greatest actor since dilip Saab better than amitabh.amitabh may be big for some but fact is he has done most of his films which were crap masala like mard and his success rate isn’t that good coming upto 30%

  • @Deepu don’t compare the most respected bollywood star ever Aamir khan with the most hated bollywood star ever Srk.Aamir has done meetings with Ministers,Chief Ministers,PM of India,British PM and also American President and also invited by then whereas in the same America Srk is stopped regularly by the airport staff.lol.

  • Hats off to incredible Aamir khan for this achievement which is much bigger than any other awards.Aamir lost his number 1 position after giving ATBB’S “Ghajini” and “3 idiots” bcoz of the big gap in his movies and done “SMJ”.But creating awareness in people and using his stardom for the betterment of the society and country has made Aamir khan number 1 in real life whereas in reel life Salman khan is number 1.

  • Aamir khan is the first Indian actor to feature on Time Magazine cover ..The 100 most influential people . Aamir Khan the best actor ever . WORLD CLASS \m/

  • @Deepu We do not need you congratulating Aamir or his fans because quite clearly you are one of those very small minded minority of people who still oppose any kind of social change in India…! :-P
You are a disgrace to anyone connected with you. You’re a real nuisance and hindrance to all the people who want to better themselves but they face a brickwall barrier in the form of ‘you’. I said it before that you suck as a human being and now I say that the goal of every samaritan in India is to not just to challenge people like you but to permanently wipe out your way of thinking completely from our society.
Aamir Khan please keep on raising awareness about social injustice and societal imbalances in India because we are with you Jab Tak Hai Jaan…!

  • aamir khan is a true superstar and a humanitarian also….he utilizes his stardom for creating awareness among the people on some sensitive issues which were never touched before…even if they were…they were never that big…n were almost ignored…thanks to this genius for at least initiating such a revolution which not only touched hearts of the people but also concerned the sleeping n money making govt of india…i hope he raises J&K’s issue in his next show…bcoz it needs some serious attention…

  • Influential doesn’t mean only cinema, he has been influential due to his acts like – supporting Narmada Bachao Andolan, supporting Anna Hazare, then the most infleuntial tv series Satyamev Jayate etc.,

Then his films like 3idiots and Range De….have influenced the thoughts of many youngsters and parents regarding education and how to bring about a change / revolution.

His film like Lagaan is a masterpience in the making, as who would dare to take such a topic of Indian villagers playing cricket with Britishers? It gives hope that with your will you can move mountains.

If that movie had released now, it would have shattered all records and made atleast 400 to 500 Cr.

All this makes him a great influential person.

    None others match him currently.

  • Oh i forgot Taare Zameen Par…..another bold attempt that made people realise on dyslexia and how to deal about it….that a disability can be overcome with combined efforts of parents and schools.

    Congrats Aamir!!!!

  • Nice post by remote control…
    I really liked it buddy…
I dont wanna comment abt aamir…coz I really dont like him though his works r praiseworthy…!!
Shahrukh roxxx thanxxx 2 haters like navin n sachin 11…

  • Aamir khan has made in to the list as a social worker not as an artist. But sharukh made as an artist. Anyway what aamir wants he got.

  • @Damn…!… You spot on, Srk does rock but only because of guys like me and Sachin11. We are inadvertedly popularising the brand Srk among all the ‘chaiwalas’ and ‘rickshawwalas’ of India. I mean lets face facts, what the 3.7 billion strong armies of Srk, the countless Intl Awards, the 5 million Srk fanzines (about 4.3 million started up by ‘xzone’) could not do for Srk in 3 years in trying to eclipse Readys 123 cr benchmark, we bhai fans have done more good to Srk in 3 months by bringing his name to the forefront of hindi cinema. The awareness of Chennai Depress is causing a good ripple in rural India and its all due to me and Sachin11. Now with abit of luck Srks next could just sneak past Readys 123 cr mark with the help of afew ‘chaiwalas’ and ‘rickshawwalas’ daring to go and watch Srks Chennai Depress. These poor chaps have never fully recovered from the nightmarish ‘Paheli’ but they may just go and lend a helping hand to the 3.7 billion srkians and make Chennai Depress a HIT…! :-P

  • Aamir Khan is the best actor among his contemporaries & He’s great and a very good human being. Waiting for his all upcoming movies……….

  • @soroop You can praise the self proclaimed ‘Great Actor Srk’ more than the universally renowned Philanthropist and Good All Round Samaritan Aamir Khan but there are many crores of people who are not as narrow minded as you are. People of India on a large scale welcome Aamirs help in highlighting their plight but Im glad you are content with watching the great cartoonist/ artist Srk play G.one in Raavan. Each to their own and if you value artists work over social workers then good luck to you in future in never having to need a social workers help.
