2 States Weekend Collections: Early Estimate

2 statesWith collections pouring in from various centres, 2 States has performed phenomenally well in its first weekend at the domestic box office. The film opened very well on Friday (holiday for Good Friday), witnessed a slight drop in business on Saturday (working day) and completed its first weekend with outstanding growth on Sunday.

Very early estimates suggest that the film has collected more than Rs 14.25 crore on Sunday, as almost every centre picking up by 15-30%. Some were up by more than 40% from Friday! Mysore circuit alone has managed to collect around 3.25 crore in 3 days.

The fantastic trend over its weekend also suggests that the film has been liked by its target audience which include both the college going youth and family audience.

Also, most exhibitors that we spoke to are confident that 2 States is set for a long run at the box office and should hold extra-ordinarily well on Monday – given how well the audience is liking the film.

What’s also worth mentioning is the competition from the Indian Premiere League, which in its first week has had absolutely no impact on the business of 2 States.

The Chetan Bhagat love story, directed by Abhishek Varman, is set to emerge as the second highest grosser of 2014 and could even cross the 100 crore mark depending on how well it performs during the weekdays.

2 States has already beaten the lifetime business of Alia Bhatt’s last release Highway and should be her highest grosser ever. Ditto for Arjun Kapoor.

  • Friday – 12.28 crore
  • Saturday – 11.89 crore
  • Sunday – 14 crore+ (early estimate, final collections will be published at 3PM tomorrow)
