  • Rest in Peace in Mr. Rajjat Barjatya!

People and families should learn how to live together peacefully without any jealousy among family members with Indian values.

Indeed, we can learn a lot from this family.

  • @Salman Khan King Khan: Really, man? Someone just dies, instead of writing some kind words to console his family, you are still engaging in this Khan war? Please grow up.

  • Dishoom was designed as a fun popcorn entertainer and in that aspect, it has managed to find its target audience on Day One. As a matter of fact while one expected primarily youth to step in theaters on the opening day, there were family crowds witnessed in the evening and night shows as well. Now this is good news indeed for the film as it indicates that the Rohit Dhawan directed film has good potential to grow further on Saturday and Sunday.

In the genre of being a ‘timepass’ entertainer with no romantic track whatsoever, Dishoom has done well as a buddy cop film to bring on 11.05 crore on its first day. A story like this has its own limitations when it comes to drawing crowds in large numbers. However, the promotion and marketing push by Sajid Nadiadwala and Eros, especially towards the last leg, ensured that there was good awareness created around the film’s arrival. Moreover, with the film’s glossy appeal making it a big screen experience, the footfalls that came in were promising enough to make one believe that it can do well in days to come.

Jacqueline Fernandez and John Abraham in a still from Dishoom
For now, the start for Dishoom has been promising enough, what with its first day collections being the sixth highest of 2016:

    Sultan – 36.54 crore

    Fan – 19.2 crore

    Housefull 3 – 15.2 crore

    Airlift – 12.35 crore

    Baaghi – 11.94 crore

    Dishoom – 11.05 crore

As a matter of fact, barring Baaghi, each of the remaining four films is much bigger in scale, starcast and hype. In fact Dishoom could well have crossed Baaghi as well [another Sajid Nadiadwala production] if not for the persistent rains that lashed several parts of the country on Thursday and Friday, that led to people remaining home on the latter day.

Nonetheless, the film benefits from the fact that it is the solo release of the week, has arrived on a very good count of screens, has perfect show timings for itself, doesn’t face any competition from Bollywood or Hollywood and has a clean slate ahead even in week to come. From this point on, the film has the stage set for itself to grow and it would be interesting to see where does it eventually land.

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
