It was 10 years ago on this day that one of Shah Rukh Khan’s most loved films, Chak De India, released in theatres. The promos of the film were dull, the music (prior to release) wasn’t popular, it was the least hyped Shah Rukh Khan film during his peak and it didn’t have a leading lady either.
Yet, it was one of the best films of Shah Rukh Khan’s career. A film that promised very little before release, but over-delivered. A kind of film, we wish, he does today.
Ask anyone today about the last SRK film they truly loved, most would say Chak De India while the rest would be divided over Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express or My Name Is Khan – only because those films released later.
Back in 2007, our website was new and Chak De India was the first ever movie that we rated 5 on 5. It was unlike most Shah Rukh films in those days. There was hardly any hype prior to release, the expectations from the film itself was quite low and watching the first-day-first-show with the entire cinema hall cheering, clapping and whistling for every dialogue and scene from the film is etched in the memory of those who watched the film in theatres in the mid-2000s.

Two of the best scenes from the film:
The famous McDonald’s scene from Chak De India, just before the intermission. The girls unite to fight against the boys, followed by SRK’s ‘chakke’ dialogue. The team and the coach then walk out with the title theme playing in the background.
And the scene that really stood out in the film and quite possibly the scene were SRK’s acting skills are on full display, is the climax. It took the emotions around the India win to a different level altogether. Through the scene after the last goal is scored, SRK emotes through his eyes and facial expressions. Even though it was a completely predictable film – that the team was eventually going to win the world cup – you truly feel for Kabir Khan. His struggle, his passion for the game, patriotism.. all culminating in an historic victory.

Indicine why r u trying to hide disastrous result of jhms behind 10 yrs old chak de india….it was a great movie and so was koi mil gaya which also has completed 14 yrs but u had no guts to publish tat news. u should live in present and it’s ur duty as a good bolly site to show the final lbo of jhms….has it crossed 60 crores…??

The article acts as a Burnol for SRK fans.. @Indicine: Why so biased. It was a very good movie but you never published such articles during any ther superstar’s debacles. U didn’tt publish an article on Koimilgaya during Mohenzadaro , reg Terenaam/HAHK/HDCHKNM during tubelight. There are N no of classics of Amithab/Sunny Paji/Sanjay dutt etc stars movies while their current movies are not at all working now a days. Nobody will care abt them. What matters for everyone is the current standing, not history. If you r really that concerned abt CDI’s content and sharukh’s acting capabilities(Ofcourse it was really great), you should write good things abt the other stars like Ajay whom u won’t even consider as a superstar.

Goose Bumps everytime i see teeja tera rang tha mai toh … SRK at his best … The best ever Bollywood movie i have seen(Not the level of scale as Bahubali and few others are more spectecular ). Damn sure no other actor in Indian Cinema and i dare say it again no other bollywood actor could have pulled Kabir Khan. Chak De made SRK immortal. If he can get a movie half as good as Chak De then i am sure it will blockbuster. Actingwise fan was also too good but the movie had flaws and couldn’t connect with audience.
Yes, it is one of the best films of Srk, after Darr. The day he signed Dharma productions he started doing crap movies to please his chocolate fans in India and NRIs abroad.
Dharma productions made a business man of him, removing the actor in him.
His fans and others may think he will return to the old srk, but i seriously doubt.
He is going exactly the same way as Rajesh Khanna……..who could not control his rise and fell badly.
Srk is surrounded with hounds who are milking his success and money and he needs to keep feeding them….as he has stuck in the loop which he can never come out….his PR, his production houses, his advertising and media partners, his so called friends like KJo…….He will never be the srk that came to be a hero in Mumbai.
I though hope he sheds it all and be the Srk of Darr, of Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, of Chamatkaar…..the simple next door chap whom the viewers can relate to.

Unlike what srk fans are talking here…..the best sports film is by far Lagaan and Dangal…….while Chak De is really good, but it is the best of Srk, and not the overall best……that’s the difference.
Lagaan still gives you goosebumps when watching the final overs………I would say that even the Cycle races in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander still stand out as one of the best choreographed sports scene…..it had so much rawness and authenticity….so relatable and subtle.
But, @ indicine won’t accept……its okay….we understand !!! now lets move to TEPK. lolz.

Rajesh sir never gave any disaster in his whole career..rajesh sir had given huge hits in every genre be it romance ; action ‘; tragedy ; comedy; suspense and each genre possible .but srk stuck whole his life only in romance . rajesh sir happily retired from films and joined politics since audiences had accepted rajesh sir till the end of his career….this is not the case with srk..srk has been out rightly rejected ..rajesh sir was never out rightly rejected. .so plz don’t compare them…
