Heroine Review

After Barfi last week, UTV Motion Pictures today released their second keenly awaited film – Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine starring Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda. Story: Heroine is about Mahi Arora (Kareena), a successful Bollywood actress, whose position in the industry is under constant threat with rival actresses and newcomers. Mahi is madly in love with married superstar Aryan Khanna (Arjun), who is on the verge of a divorce with his wife Isha (Shilpi Sharma).

Heroine Box Office Opening

Heroine has opened well at the box office on Friday, with around 60% occupancy (all India) for the morning shows at multiplexes. The response has been fabulous in Delhi/NCR (75%), followed by Mumbai (65%). The advance booking for the night shows is good, even though the reports are mixed. Heroine is likely to put up bigger numbers than last week’s Barfi (8.5 crore), as UTV has opted for a wider release this week.

The unconventional Emraan Hashmi and his unbelievable success

They say ‘Nothing Succeeds like Success’. When Emraan Hashmi started his acting career as a tapori in ‘Footpath’, I doubt anyone would have imagined in their wildest of dreams that 10 years down the line, he would be one of the most bankable stars in the country. His boy-next-door looks, normal build, average acting talent and comparatively negligible dancing ability made him an unconventional hero. But one look at the stats of his decade long career defy all the established logic and as cricket commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu says, ‘Statistics are like mini-skirts, they reveal more than they hide’.
