Sultan Box Office Collection Report

Sultan showed fantastic growth in business on Sunday, recording the same level of business as its first Monday. The growth from Friday to Saturday was huge, but more importantly, the momentum continued on Sunday. The first Saturday (Day 4) to Sunday (Day 5) growth was just 4%, whereas the second Saturday (Day 11)  to Sunday (Day 12) growth was a whopping 32% – which now gives the film a good chance of crossing the 300 crore mark.

Highest Single Day Collections of 2016

Only 7 Hindi films have managed to cross the 10 crore mark on a single day at the box office this year. Only two have crossed the 20 crore mark (Housefull 3 and Sultan) and only one film (Sultan) has crossed 25 / 30 / 35 on a single day. Salman Khan dominates the list with Sultan occupying the Top 5 spots. Even the 11th day collections of the film finds a place in the Top 25 days this year. 9 days of Sultan has the 10 crore mark and on Sunday, that number will increase to 10.

Highest 2nd Friday Collections of 2016

Sultan has recorded by far the highest 2nd Friday collections of 2016, inspite of the film running on its 10th day – the 2nd Friday of all other films was Day 8 – and competing against a film like Great Grand Masti. Only the Hollywood film ‘The Jungle Book’, with collections of Rs 8.02 crore on its 8th day, was higher than Sultan.

Sultan Total Worldwide Box Office Collections: Overseas and India

Sultan has collected Rs 438 crore in its first extended week (9 days) at the box office. The film has collected Rs 230 crore in India and Rs 117 crore overseas, making it the fastest film to cross the 400 crore mark. The film is well on course to cross 500 crore and should eventually cross the 550 crore mark too if it does well for the next couple of weeks. Sultan has also improved its IMDb ranking, which is now at 7.4.

Sultan completes record-breaking extended week

Sultan has just completed a record-breaking extended week at the box office. The film has gone past all previous Eid releases, excluding Kick and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Sultan also became the highest grosser of the year, beating the business of ‘The Jungle Book’ in 6 days and smashing the record of the previous highest Hindi grosser by a margin of Rs 100 crore in just 9 days. In other words, Sultan will collect about the same as the previous highest grosser (Airlift) and second highest grosser (Housefull 3) in 10 days.

Great Grand Masti Box Office Prediction

Great Grand Masti is the big release this week and the film has been in news for all the wrong reasons. Previously, the Indra Kumar sex comedy was scheduled to release in theatres on July 22, but was preponed at the very last moment, because a copy of the film leaked onto the internet. The last film that suffered because of a internet leak, was Balaji’s own film ‘Udta Punjab’. But the controversy negated the impact of piracy and the film went on to become a decent grosser.

Dhoom 3 vs Sultan: Box Office Collection Comparison

On Sunday, it looked like Sultan would match or even beat the collections of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and PK, but now with the film running in its ‘Post-Eid’ weekdays, it’s looking more likely the Ali Abbas Zafar directed film will finish closer to the lifetime business of Dhoom 3. At the end of the first week, Sultan is exactly 20 crore ahead of Dhoom 3 at the same stage – but had two open weeks and a couple of additional holidays, while Sultan will be up against Great Grand Masti in its second week itself.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan vs Sultan vs PK: Box Office Collections

Only two films have crossed the 300 crore mark so far: Aamir Khan – Anushka – Rajkumar Hirani’s PK and Salman Khan – Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Salman, under Ali Abbas Zafar’s direction and Anushka as his lead heroine, will have yet another go at the 300 crore club, as his latest release ‘Sultan’ has already collected ? 181 crore in 5 days at the box office. Release factors in favour and against all three films: PK (December 2014) : 3900 screens, highest average ticket price, 3 open weeks, no competition Bajrangi Bhaijaan (July 2015) : 4000 screens, lowest average ticket price (compared to other two), 2 open weeks, competition from Baahubali Sultan (July 2016) : 4350 screens, 2nd highest average ticket price, 1 open week, competition from Great Grand Masti from Week 2. July 11 Update: At the end of 5 days, Bajrangi Bhaijaan had collected 151.05 crore, PK had collected ? 135.79 crore and Sultan has accumulated ? 180.36 crore. So, Salman Khan’s latest release is ? 29.31 crore ahead of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and a whopping ? 44.57 crore ahead of PK. Interestingly, the highest single day of Sultan was lower than the highest single day of both Bajrangi Bhaijaan and PK!

Sultan Sunday (Day 5) Box Office Collection Update

Sultan has started very strongly on Sunday, with multiplexes at several centres taking the best start of the week. The advance booking, like we mentioned in one of our reports late last night (read), is extraordinary for the film. Mumbai circuit, after a comparatively slower start in the first 2-3 days, is now coming into its own. The occupancy for the morning shows was phenomenal in major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad.. just to name a few. Rest of India, the story is the same. Sultan is performing at a very high level throughout the country.

Sultan Saturday (Day 4) Box Office Collections

Sultan is the first blockbuster of 2016, as the film is on a historic, record-smashing run at the box office. The film is achieving never-before-seen levels of business at the domestic box office. The Saturday collections of Sultan will be its best day and the film is set to cross the 37-38 crore mark on Saturday – making it the best non-holiday single day of all time. Multiplexes went berserk on Saturday, with some growing by 20-25%. From North to South, East to West, the multiplex business of Sultan was at record levels. The positive sign was, the family audience who were coming out in big numbers to watch the film.

Sultan Total Collection, Profit, Distributor’s Share

Yash Raj Films’ Sultan has already recovered all of its investment in less than 3 days at the box office. The film has grossed more than Rs 200 crore worldwide, making it the fastest money-spinner of all time. Trade sources say, Salman Khan will take home more than ? 100 crore as his fee / profit share from the film, indirectly making him the highest paid actor in the country.
